With the development of highway construction, pavers are increasingly used in road construction. The performance of pavers directly affects the overall construction quality of the road surface, so daily maintenance of pavers is an important condition for improving their lifespan and efficiency.

1. Daily technical maintenance of pavers/Entretien technique quotidien des pavés
(1) Clean the paver: remove mud, sand and asphalt accumulated on the surface of the paver; remove dust and grease on the surface of the engine, hydraulic components and other parts.
(2) Check the joints, connecting pipes, gas tanks and switches of the heating system.
(3) Check the connection and fastening of all parts of the paver, especially the connecting bolts of the left and right crawler beams and the frame, the screed plate, the material distributor and the scraper conveyor to see if they are loose or broken. Tighten or replace them if necessary.
(4) Check and eliminate leaks in all parts.
(5) Check the amount of engine oil, fuel, coolant and hydraulic oil, and add new oil to the oil gauge as required.
(6) Check whether there is an appropriate amount of grease in the centralized lubrication device.
(7) Check whether the blades of the spiral feeder have cracks. If so, replace them in time.
(8) Check whether the electrical plugs are loose.
(9) Check whether the sensors (hopper sensor, temperature sensor, etc.) are clean and the circuits are not damaged.
(10) Test whether the emergency stop button and alarm device function normally.
2. Periodic technical maintenance/Maintenance technique périodique
(1) Check the locking valve of the lifting hydraulic cylinder
When the paver is running, the lifting hydraulic cylinder is in a floating state. After the machine stops running, the lower oil chamber of the lifting hydraulic cylinder must be locked to prevent the ironing plate from sinking and affecting the flatness of the road surface. At this time, even if the lifting cylinder is still in a floating state, the temperature of the ironing plate will definitely drop due to the lack of paving, and there will be a certain pressure in its upper oil chamber. At this time, if the paver is restarted, the resistance of the ironing plate will increase accordingly, causing the road surface to bulge. Therefore, during the construction process, the locking pressure of the oil chamber, the sealing of the hydraulic cylinder, and the state of the locking valve must be checked frequently to avoid damage to the paved road.
(2) Maintenance of ironing board
Screed plate failure has a great impact on the normal operation of the paver, so it is necessary to strengthen daily maintenance management, regularly check the screed plate status, and add composite calcium-based high-temperature lubricating oil to rammers, vibrators, etc. The amount of filling should not be too much or too little, and the amount needs to be determined according to the working requirements of different components.
(3) Engine system: Replace engine oil and filter (recommended every 200-250 hours or as required by the manufacturer); clean or replace air filter (shorten the cycle in dusty environments).
(4) Hydraulic system: Check the cleanliness of the hydraulic oil and replace it if necessary (usually every 1000-2000 hours); clean the hydraulic oil breather and check if there is any leakage in the pipeline.
(5) Transmission system: Check the oil level of the reduction gearbox and replace the gear oil regularly (e.g. every 500 hours); check the track tension (crawler paver) and the wear of the drive wheel.
3. Prevent hydraulic system contamination/Prévenir la contamination du système hydraulique
The quality of the oil directly affects the operating state of the hydraulic system. To ensure the long-term stable operation of the paver, the hydraulic oil must be properly protected from pollution during daily use. Install a filter at the oil inlet to prevent the hydraulic oil from being contaminated by impurities in the air. Check the sealing effect of the hydraulic oil regularly to prevent the deterioration of the surrounding temperature, pressure and other factors due to poor sealing, and extend the service life of the hydraulic oil. For hydraulic oil that has been used for a period of time, it is necessary to replace it in time and select qualified and high-quality oil to ensure that it meets the construction requirements.
4. Technical maintenance for long-term parking/Maintenance technique pour le stationnement longue durée
If the paver is to be parked for 3 months, the following maintenance should be performed:
(1) Carry out technical maintenance for long-term storage according to the requirements in the instruction manual and perform rust prevention treatment.
(2) Clean the inner and outer surfaces of the machine, the hopper, the ironing board, the spiral material distributor and the scraper conveyor. The machine should be parked in a warehouse as much as possible; if it is parked in the open air, it should be placed in a ventilated place and covered with canvas.
(3) Place wooden blocks on the ironing board.
(4) The hopper and leveling cylinder should be completely retracted and lubricated.
(5) When the machine is parked for a long time, only the basic sections of the ironing device and the material dividing device can be installed on the main machine.
(6) After cleaning, the accessories of the paver should be treated with rust prevention and placed in a clean and ventilated room.
(7) Add new lubricating oil or grease to each lubrication point of the paver.
5. Summary
Asphalt concrete is the main material for highway projects, and its paving effect is directly related to the quality of the project. We should pay attention to the application of pavers. Through standardized maintenance, we can reduce the failure rate of pavers (such as broken feed chain, hydraulic system pollution, etc.), extend the service life, and ensure the paving flatness and construction quality.
