Roller construction skills

1. The choice of compaction machinery should be light first and then heavy.At the beginning, the soil is soft. If the tonnage of the road roller is too heavy, it will cause soil accumulation, uneven thickness, and not guaranteed compaction.Therefore, first use a small and light roller to compact the soil evenly. After the subgrade soil has a certain strength, then use a heavy roller to roll it to the required compaction degree.If it is a vibrating roller, the static pressure should be performed once, and then the vibration should be from weak to strong vibration.
2. The compaction speed should be slow first and then fast.The rolling speed of the roller should gradually accelerate as the number of rolling cycles increases, that is, the rolling should be carried out at a lower speed during initial pressure. This can extend the rolling pressure time, increase the depth of the impact, accelerate soil deformation, avoid the phenomenon of rolling wheels cramming, and prevent abnormal situations such as small rollers from getting stuck in vehicles.
3. Straight line sections and large curve sections without super high should be side first and then middle.The small roller gradually rolls the center line of the roadbed from the outside of the roadbed and along the direction of the roadbed extension to form a road arch for easy drainage.
4. A section with ultra-high small curves should be rolled from the inside to the outside, from the lower part of the roadbed to the higher part of the roadbed, forming a one-way ultra-high cross slope.
5. When rolling the ramp, the driving wheel of the small roller should be at the back.When going uphill, the rear drive wheel can withstand the driving force provided by the ramp and the machine itself. At the same time, the front wheel initially compacts the road surface to withstand the greater shear force generated by the drive wheel.
6. Whether it is uphill or downhill, the lower layer of asphalt mixture must be clean and dry, and the asphalt bonding layer must be sprayed to prevent the mixture from slipping during compaction.
7. Before uphill compaction, the mixture should be cooled to the specified low-limit temperature, and then static pre-pressurized. Vibration compaction should be used only when the mixture temperature drops to the lower limit.

8. When performing downhill compaction when the slope is very steep, pre-pressing should be first used with a light roller, and then a heavy roller or a vibrating roller should be used for compaction.
