In the previous article, we learned about the working principle of engine bearings. So, what kind of damage will abnormal wear and burning of bearings bring to the engine?
The main reason for abnormal wear and burning of bearings is that there is a problem with the lubrication system. The reasons for the failure are as follows:
1. The diesel engine lacks oil, and the lubrication and cooling strength are insufficient, causing the temperature of the engine bearing to cause serious dry friction between the bearing and the crankshaft, causing burning.
2. Water and diesel mixed in the oil reduce the lubrication performance of the oil, causing burning.
3. The oil is not clean, and small particles of impurities are mixed in, which causes grooves and pulls during operation, causing burning.
4. The diesel engine oil temperature is too high, which makes the oil viscosity too low, and the oil pressure drops, causing burning.
5. The oil quality is not selected correctly, the oil is not compliant, or the oil is not replaced for a long time, it is difficult to form a good lubricating oil film, causing mechanical friction or corrosion wear, and burning. You should know that the quality of engine oil will directly affect the normal operation of the internal parts of the engine.
6. Due to the long-term use of the diesel engine, the crankshaft journal has great wear, and its roundness and cylindricity exceed the allowable range, so that the oil film on the friction surface of the bearing journal cannot be formed, the lubrication performance is reduced, and the bearing is burned.
7. The engine is in an overloaded working state for a long time, causing the lubricating oil temperature to be too high, the viscosity to decrease, the impact load between the bearing and the crankshaft to increase, the lubricating oil film is not easy to form, the heat generated by friction cannot be taken away, and the bearing capacity of the oil film cannot meet the requirements, causing abnormal wear of the bearing and then burning the bearing.
8. Before starting the diesel engine, there is no pre-lubrication, and there is not enough engine oil on each lubrication surface. Or when the oil temperature is too high, the oil film cannot be maintained in the bearing gap. After starting again, these friction surfaces will cause dry friction, causing abnormal wear on the crankshaft and bearing surface, and then developing into burning.
9. The oil filter used does not meet the requirements, the oil filter is not effective or has high resistance, which can also cause the diesel engine bearing to be strained, and abnormal wear and tear can cause bearing burning.
10. Due to oil pump failure or lubrication pipeline leakage, the diesel engine oil is insufficient, resulting in insufficient oil pressure, causing bearing burning.
11. When the diesel engine oil temperature is too low, the speed and load are suddenly increased, and the oil film is uneven, which can also cause abnormal wear of the bearing.
12. When the ambient temperature in winter is below 0 degrees Celsius, the engine is quickly and forcibly started to work without sufficient preheating. At this time, due to the low temperature and high oil viscosity, the lubricating oil film between the bearing and the crankshaft has not yet formed, which may cause the bearing to burn.
